Sister Karen J. Reaves

Sister Karen J. Reaves, a native of Portsmouth, VA., was educated in the Portsmouth Public School System. She received a Bachelor’s Degree from Norfolk State University.

In September 1993, Sister Reaves became a member of the original teaching staff Faith Academy School of Excellence. During her tenure, she was mentored by an extraordinary educator, the late Gloria B. Collins. She later obtained a Master’s degree in Elementary Education.

Sister Reaves worked in the public school system for six (6) years holding numerous positions including 4th Grade Chairperson, English Chairperson for Middle School, Communication Skills Specialist, Key Communicator and Assistant Principal Designee. During this time, she became a Reading Diagnostician/ Clinician, enabling her to diagnose and treat reading problems.

Sister Reaves later received her Education Leadership Specialist certificate and a licensure in Administration and Supervision (PreK-12) from the Virginia Department of Education. In 2006, she returned to Faith Academy School of Excellence as Administrator. Sis. Reaves’ goal is to be used by God to lead the students of Faith Academy School of Excellence to their greatest spiritual and academic potential.
