Dr. Barbara M. Amos

In September of 1986, Dr. Barbara M. Amos founded Faith Deliverance Christian Center, Inc. in Norfolk, Virginia. The inner-city ministry seeks to meet the holistic needs of the community through diverse outreach endeavors. In 1992, she founded Faith Academy School of Excellence, a Christian school offering curricula concentrated in mathematics, science, technology, and spiritual and cultural awareness for students in preschool through the 8th grade.

Dr. Amos serves as Executive Director of Dorcas, Inc., a non-profit organization committed to promoting spiritual, educational and economic wellness in impoverished communities in America and throughout the world. In an effort to fulfill the Great Commission, Dr. Amos travels to Haiti and West Africa and provides a myriad of resources to several nations abroad. Additionally, she is the current pastor of Kinston Christian Center in Kinston, North Carolina.

Dr. Amos holds a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice from Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia and has done graduate studies in Social Work at Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia. She is a graduate of the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia, receiving a Master of Divinity degree, magna cum laude and has earned a Doctor of Ministry from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, PA.
